The life of a recent college grad isn't exactly what I was expecting...an $80,000 a year (starting rate of course) career with an award winning newspaper, amazing apartment in the middle of New York or San Francisco. No. The life of a recent college grad is pretty much, well, depressing.
Unable to find work, or better yet, an actual CAREER, I decided to take a few years to travel abroad and figure out what it is I really wanted to do with my life. So I left home and literally ran away to Italy. And it is here, in the land of wine, cheese and Pizza that I found a passion for the kitchen.
Now I am the first person to say how absolutely clumsy and unattentive of a person I am. I have always dreaded having to cook, and dont even want to think about the disasters that have happend (or will happen) thus far in my life.
I have always loved to travel and absolutely adore immersing myself within a culture. It was 3 years ago that I first went to Portovenere, Italy with my university for the summer to study and travel for a bit. To make a long story short, I immediately fell in love with EVERYTHING, including a young Italian man named Giovanni, of course. However that is anther story for another day.
I ended up living with his family, becoming extremely close with his father, Renzo, who owned a restaurant and made the most amazing pizza I have ever eaten. It was at his restaurant, in his kitchen, that I became facinated with cooking.
So with this blog I want to tell my tales, trials and tribulations of one clumsy, unattentive, unsure, college grad trying to organize her life while learning the art she loves in the kitchen.
